What does it mean to be a good neighbor?
Being a good neighbor is the attitude we live with as we encounter and interact with others.
We expect others to be kind, hospitable, and generous toward us, but what about how we are with the same people? Being a good neighbor isn’t about our socioeconomic level, educational accomplishments, marital status, or personal worldview. It has nothing to do with ethnicity, political persuasion, or religious (or non-religious) involvement. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” Being a good neighbor starts with the way we treat and care for ourselves. We, here at The Block, want to be a good neighbor to our community and that means helping when and how we can.
Let’s be a force for good in our community. Let’s be a good neighbor even if no one is watching. Let’s be a good neighbor when there’s nothing in it for us and no form of repayment is possible. Let’s be a good neighbor simply because we can and we love them like we love ourselves.
