About the Block

Neighbors Serving Neighbors through Genuine Connections

Our mission is built on a foundation of love and a desire to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

Our Story

In 2021, Church on the Hill took a bold step toward deepening its impact in the community by establishing The Block Community Outreach, Inc., a completely separate, non-religious 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Though born from the heart of the church, The Block was created to stand on its own, with its own leadership, mission, and funding.

On June 1, 2022, a major milestone was reached: key outreach efforts, including the Weekend Food Program (originally launched in 2016) and the Summer Food Program, were fully entrusted to The Block. This handoff marked more than a transition—it was a declaration of trust in a growing vision to meet people right where they are, with dignity and love.

Today, The Block continues to lead a wide range of programs that are changing lives in our community. From providing critical food and hygiene supplies to the unhoused, to feeding our food-insecure neighbors weekly, to ensuring that kids have the tools they need to thrive in school and a safe, encouraging place to go after class through our Kids @ The Block program every effort is driven by one powerful mission: to love, to uplift, and to be present for those in need.

The Block is so much more than community outreach, we are neighbors serving neighbors through genuine connections.
